Clearly, Saleh is not a classical “militant leader.” Still, he is one of the most interesting political profiles in the current Libyan landscape, a crucial actor – and a representative of a crucial tribe – in the east, and his actions show that the situation in eastern Libya is way more diversified and complex than many believe. Haftar’s defeat in western Libya is allowing many to see a reality that was already there.
